About Larisa Zlatic

I received my Ph.D. in Linguistics in 1997 from the University of Texas at Austin. My Dissertation deals with the Structure of the Serbian Noun Phrase. I have taught university level courses in linguistics, such as phonology, phonetics, syntax, the syntax-semantics interface and language acquisition. In 2003, a linguistics textbook I co-authored with Stephen Wechsler, The Many Faces of Agreement. was published. It has been used as a textbook at several U.S. universities.

In addition to academia, I have also worked on practical aspects of linguistics (yes, linguistics can be practical too) in the computer industry, in the areas of lexicography, knowledge representation, information retrieval and data mining.

As a language consultant, I have provided services in dictionary building, lexicography, linguistic categorization of documents, semantic meta-tagging, grammar rule writing (pseudo code), information retrieval and data mining.
